It’s always so fun to see a new venue. You look at the photos online and you think “oh wow, that looks pretty”. You see the spots other photographers have taken couples for portraits and you start planning your shots for the day.

What I loved about this venue is all the changes in lighting. Hartley Botanica is situated just west of the Simi Valley and a little north of Camarillo. As you drive to the venue, you begin to think you may have gone the wrong way. You quickly leave a small town and find yourself driving in the middle of nowhere. As you arrive the venue, you find yourself in a lush oasis with many fun pathways and small vignettes.

When I arrive to a venue, I immediately start to look for places to do portraits. This venue had so many, it was almost hard to narrow them to the very best. This space not only beautiful landscaping but such beautiful lighting. I played more off of the light vs the plants to make it unique from other people’s photos of the space.

The best part of this wedding was working with Jennifer Jasso Photography. I love working for her. No matter how many wedding’s she photographs, she is always so excited for each couple and such a joy to hang out with.
