Isn’t this Palisades Park engagement session just dreamy? When Presley contacted me, she wanted something that showcased the connection between her and her fiance Brian. As most couples tell me, “we are so awkward and I don’t know how we will do this?”. I then reassured her that most couples feel weird having their photos taken at first but I promise we will capture something that looks and feels natural.
After discussing ideas, we decided to go to Palisades Park for their session. The couple was coming in from out of town and really wanted something warm and romantic with greenery and beach. I couldn’t think of a better spot. I love this area for so many reasons. You can spend the first half of the engagement session at Palisades Park capturing the uniqueness of the Southern California landscaping. And then head on down to the beach with that has an amazing view of Malibu in the background.
When I am working with a couple at an engagement session, it’s most important they feel a connection with me as well. To warm up, I typically start the session walking around, talking, and taking some easy photos. We always save the best for last. Once I feel like the couple is getting the hang of how this will work, we will move on to more exciting places and more exciting poses.
Most couples are truthfully great behind the camera. It’s very rare I can not pull out something genuine from each person. I coach each client on what to do but I also let allow them enough freedom to still act naturally and be themselves. This also allows the couple share special moments with each other.
The more I shoot, the more I realize how important it is that each couple feels comfortable working with their photographer. In some of these images you will see the couple sharing a beautiful moment together but little do you realize that I am standing only a few feet from their face. Sounds pretty awkward, right? How many times do you snuggle or kiss with another person hovering over the top of you??
If you are looking to do an engagement session that showcases your personality and connection with your partner, I would love to chat with you more. Right now I am booking 2020 and 2021 and would love to hear from you!!
