I’ve worked with this family for about three years, and I love that they are always willing to try something new with their shoots! This session, we went to the pier at Manhattan Beach for our Manhattan Beach Family Photography session. I love photographing families at this location because it’s easy to park and typically not too crowded. It’s a more accessible spot for families with younger children, and the pier makes for a beautiful backdrop.
Olivia is 6 years old and KK is 4. I’ve really enjoyed capturing them growing up through family photographs over the past 3 years. It’s fun being able to work with a family on a consistent basis. I feel like I can capture their unique personalities in more detail because I know what to expect! KK is more shy and usually takes longer to warm up during photoshoots. Taking her to the beach was great because she had so much fun playing she (almost) forgot to pout!
I really love photographing family sessions at the beach. There are so many opportunities to capture genuine moments of kids and parents playing together. Especially if kids are more shy, I like to give them ideas of activities to do. I suggested that Olivia and KK jump over the waves, race, and play in the sand. Eventually they started having so much fun they forgot they were even doing a photoshoot! Mom and dad had tons of fun playing with the kids, too. I love capturing these candid moments of a family enjoying beach time together.
