OMG!  I am dying over this Los Angeles maternity session and am so excited to finally share it.  For this families maternity session, we hit up this beautiful mural in the Long Beach neighborhood, Bixby Knolls.  The mural is located just across the street from the Steelhead Coffee  and conveniently right next to my house.

When I first moved to Long Beach, I was really excited for a few reasons.  First of all, our new neighborhood felt so quaint and inviting.  A similar feeling to the way I grew up.  Secondly, it had a really great downtown along with several cute neighborhoods with unique shops and restaurants.  Parts of it remind me of Wicker Park, where I lived before in Chicago.  We are (no joke) less than a 10 min drive to the beach, target, in and out, home depot, costco, ralphs, and so many more places.  I can’t even explain how nice it is to make a 7pm diaper run in 10 mins or less.  Or to take my son to the beach for 30 mins to blow off some steam.  We are super in love with our new neighborhood for sure.  And lastly, the community here is wonderful. We’ve now lived here for six months and have already started building a network of friends.

But the thing I love the most is the art scene.  Being an artist myself, it’s nice to see this appreciation in your community.  One thing I fell in love with quickly is all the murals.  Where I lived before, there were always murals but not many you wanted to use as a backdrop.  Maybe the colors weren’t right or the content was a bit odd.  But in Long Beach, all of the murals are so beautiful and full of color.  I did a little research online and found this fun resource to all the Long Beach murals.
