This first birthday session was so much fun. I love working with this family! I have photographed four separate sessions with Liam. I’ve captured a full one year series, from his newborn shoot to his first birthday session. It is so fun getting to work with the same family over the course of a year in a child’s life. They will be able to look back at his first year album and see how much Liam has grown and changed their lives in such a short period of time.

Every session, we recreate some of the same shots from Liam’s newborn session. It is nice to have a more cohesive collection of photographs and it is easier to compare Liam’s growth and how the house has changed since he joined the family! This session was obviously a little bit different for his first birthday session. We had balloons and cake (scroll to see what Liam did with the cake). The family dog has always been part of the shoot as well.

One of the cooler moments was recreated a photo in front of their house in Venice Beach. We have created that shot during each of the four photoshoots. This will be the last time we are able to capture that shot because they are moving to Santa Barbara. As sad as it is, they will be able to look back at this one year collection of photographs and remember the house Liam spent his first year. Locations are important, especially with children. It will be special to have photographs documenting the house that has formed so many memories.
