This at home newborn session was so sweet. I got to photography Baby Mateo and his 2 and a half year old big sister, along with mom and dad. I loved working with this beautiful family. I met them at their home in Brentwood. We were able to capture really adorable moments at home.

I like to photograph newborn sessions with clients at their home. At home sessions are super low stress because no one has to prepare to go anywhere. I find this especially easy for new moms or moms with multiple very small children. When I am photographing babies and toddlers, I like to work with whatever they’re in the mood for. If they are not interested in sitting still and smiling, that’s ok! I capture candid moments of them playing. These moments are often good opportunities for mom and dad to jump in and play as well. I love capturing genuine moments of families spending time together. It helps keep the session light and fun for everyone involved.

Most photos I see of newborns capture them sleeping, but I love to photograph newborns when they’re awake! I think newborns show more personality when they’re awake. Plus they’re so cute! It is more difficult to pose them when they’re awake, so I also capture some of them sleeping. It’s nice to have a combination. Also, they also usually fall asleep at some point during the shoot.
