I can’t get over how cute this little baby is! He actually looks like a little doll. This cozy at home newborn session with baby Tommy was so adorable to shoot. The family had actually booked a different photographer to capture this at home session, but she had to bail at the last minute and they found me! I was excited to be able to jump in and meet this family in their home to capture their newborn session in ________. They wanted moments with clean backgrounds, so I focused on tighter shots with them. I focused on their faces and expressions without including too much of their home of setting in the background.

It’s so important when working with new parents and new moms especially to structure the shoot to be as easy as possible. Moms with newborn babies have enough stress as it is! I showed up and we were able to capture the photos in a really calm environment. As a mom of two I remember how exhausted I was as a new mom, especially with my first child! It’s important to find a photographer who understands what you’re going for and can handle all of the heavy lifting for you.

I absolutely love photographing newborns with their eyes open. Tommy was so tiny but so alert! Tommy is the first child in this family, so it was extra exciting to be able to document such a special time in their lives.
