Working with Rachel and Karl was such a blast! One thing that was fun is Baby Leah was born just 3 days after my daughter, Ariel. It’s always fun meeting families with kids the same age as my own. Karl’s parents were in town to meet their first granddaughter and what better way to remember their trip than with a Manhattan Beach family photo session. We were able to capture mom, dad, and grandparents! It was really special.

We decided to meet up at Manhattan Beach. The South Bay is one of my favorite spots for photos. It’s always so beautiful and so easy to access. And of course the pier is amazing! I love recommending Manhattan Beach for family sessions, especially when there are little ones involved.

When I am photographing children, not only is it important that the location is beautiful, but also kid friendly. Beaches can sometimes be tough. Sometimes the parking is too far or the journey to the water is far. Having kids of my own, I know how tricky it can be. I always sit and talk to my clients about the location before we commit. Luckily, this location turned out to be perfect for everyone. We started out the session with just mom, dad, and Baby Leah. Once we got some photos of the trio, we added in grandparents. They were so happy to meet their granddaughter for the first time! The pier was a magical setting to meet and celebrate their joy as first-time grandparents. And it made for a stunning backdrop!
