I’ve been working quite a bit in Playa Vista shooting several families in their homes and at various locations. I am still fairly new to LA and have been sort of exploring the different areas and figuring out where is my ideal client. The thing I love about this area is that its of course beautiful! But I’ve met so many amazing people and they have such an incredible community. It’s always so nice to come to a city that feels so big and but also so small. I’ve had many conversations with people in this area and everyone knows everyone! It’s so incredible. Especially when you have small children. Having an amazing community is everything.
So this session….what can I say. It’s really cute!! This session reminded me why I don’t typically offer mini sessions. My sessions are generally about one hour long. Sometimes longer but it just depends on how everyone is feeling. But what I find is I always get the best moments when we are all about to give up. At this session, I decided to take a photo of just the parents. I mean, why not!! When was the last time they had a photo alone. And I couldn’t help but laugh when both kids came running in and out of the scene. It’s just so symbolic of what a relationship is like after kids. I feel like if this session had been shorter, we wouldn’t have captured this cute moment.
Maybe one day I will change my mind about mini sessions but right now the last part of the shoot is still my favorite! I really love that sweet spot when everyone is warmed up and feels comfortable to be themselves.
